  • Marquetry

Marquetry is an art form that has been used to decorate the most elaborate interiors and objects since the time of the Egyptians, with only the wealthiest patrons in any era being able to commission the marquetry artist. Examples of beautiful marquetry floors can be found in many of the great palaces of Europe.

The skills required to design and make marquetry flooring are practised by few, and mastered by fewer still. Weldon have completed many private commissions; a public example of our work is the marquetry cypher in the Crimson Drawing room at Windsor Castle which needed recreating after it was damaged by fire.
