  • Windsor Oak - Savill Garden
  • When the Crown Estate recently built its multi-award winning visitors centre at Savill Garden they wanted to be able to use their own timber throughout the building. This meant that they needed a supplier who had the resources and experience who could be trusted to manage every aspect of the project from extracting the timber from the forest to installing the huge floor.

Weldons experts carefully selected forty English Oak trees from Windsor Great Park , to fell and transport them to our saw mill in Lincolnshire. The English Oak was quarter sawn, air dried, and then kiln dried to perfectly match the humidity levels in the building before being machined to size. The floor was then installed by a team of twelve of our men over a four week period ready for the Royal opening ceremony.
